I often get asked why the cpptips list is one-way (no postings allowed). Here is a rationale. I hope you can see my point-of-view on this.

There exist at least 4-5 news groups that are designed specifically to accommodate two way discussions on issues related to C++ development.

My employer is supplying my time and their equipment and their bandwidth to host the cpptips site and email list. In other words, I'm a beggar. So minimizing my utilization of their generousity is a big concern of mine.

Since my company is hosting this, I want to avoid any liability concerns they might have with an open forum where anyone can say anything. I also don't want to take the time to moderate a news-like group.

If someone has substantial enough feedback to me, I will turn it into a tip in its own right.
